Corozal is found in the northernmost part of Belize bordering Mexico. It's mostly recognized as a border town but also hosts a large expat community.
Getting to Corozal can be a long 3 hour trip if you're traveling on the chicken bus. A private shuttle can make the process pain-free and fast especially if you're just visiting for the day.

Despite not being a touristy location, Corozal has one huge highlight: the beach. On weekends, you'll find all the locals parking their cars and setting up hammocks to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. And that is usually accompanied by vendors by the street side and restaurants selling the local ceviche with fresh catch from the day.
Some activities in the area include visiting Santa Rita Mayan Ruin, Cerros Archeological site, Shipstern Nature Reserve and taking a day trip to the nearby village of Sarteneja. Sarteneja Village has a fishing village vibe and is a paradise for birders.
