Hopkins is a small Garifuna village located on the eastern coast of Belize just south of Dangriga Town. The vibe is rustic and it has a local beach feel with many mom & pop restaurants, gift shops and small bars.
Unfortunately there are no buses that go directly to Hopkins Village. This makes shuttle service the perfect choice for the area.
A private transfer service gives you and your friends a few benefits including:
- comfort of having pitstops for restroom or food
- privacy for you and your group
- ability to customize your trip and stop at any time
- social distancing compared to public bus
- personalized service from a local guide
The road to Hopkins takes you through the scenic Hummingbird Highway which is completely paved. Along the highway you'll find lots of local shops selling the tastiest homemade food in all of Belize.
If Hopkins is your home base, you can visit the Cockscomb Range inland or the Caribbean Sea on it's shore. Just 45 minutes away, you can also visit the tiny village of Sittee River which is perfect if you fancy bird-watching.
Activities in Hopkins include snorkeling along the Belize Barrier Reef, learning about the Garifuna culture, listening to cultural drumming, visiting National Parks like Cockscomb Basin & Bocawina Park and taking cooking classes for delicious Garifuna food.
