The border that separates Belize from Mexico is between the state of Quintanaroo, Mexico and the district of Corozal, Belize. It almost exclusively follows the course of the Rio Hondo (Hondo River).
Getting to the Belize—Mexican border is the same route taken to Corozal and then an additional 10-minute ride to the Immigration Office. Making this connection with a taxi is doable but if you're on a tight schedule and don't want the hassle of negotiating, a shuttle service could be a solution for you.
A private transfer service gives you and your friends a few benefits including:
- comfort of having pitstops for restroom or food
- privacy for you and your group
- ability to customize your trip and stop at any time
- social distancing compared to public bus
- personalized service from a local guide
After crossing the border, the first major city in Mexico is Chetumal in the state of Quintanaroo. Accommodations for all budgets are found throughout the city. Comfortable and reliable transportation runs around the entire Yucatan area. Taxi service is affordable for a quick trip to the terminal.
For the latest information about the border protocols, be sure to read the official Belize Tourism Board page. Rules on land border, sea border and covid are constantly being updated.
